BrandRetriever is built by two people who spent nearly nine years at Klaviyo. A founder reads every email, usually within one business day (US Eastern).

When something isn't working, include your Klaviyo account name, the browser you're using, and a screenshot. That usually saves a round trip.

Getting started

New here? Read the step-by-step guide →

  1. Start your free trial.

Sign up at app.brandretriever.com and connect your Klaviyo account. You get 14 days, and no card is needed.

    Start free trial
  2. Install the Chrome extension.

Install BrandRetriever from the Chrome Web Store and sign in with your BrandRetriever account.

    Add to Chrome
  3. Open any image block in Klaviyo.

Open any image block in Klaviyo and click the Folders tab. Use Upload to add images from your computer, Google Drive, or Dropbox.

Using BrandRetriever

Where do the new tabs appear?

In Klaviyo's image picker, which opens when you add or change an image in the email, template, SMS, and sign-up form editors. BrandRetriever adds a Folders tab, and a Brandfolder tab if your organization connected Brandfolder, next to Klaviyo's own tabs. Google Drive and Dropbox are upload buttons inside Folders, and files go into the folder you have open. Folders also appears on Klaviyo's full Image library page and on the Images page in BrandRetriever.

What is the Folders tab?

A file browser for your Klaviyo image library. You can sort images into folders, favorite the ones you use often, and search, filter, and sort across everything. Folders exist only in BrandRetriever, so your Klaviyo library itself doesn't change and nothing is moved or renamed. Add images straight from your computer with Upload image, or drag them into a folder.

Can I see where an image is used?

Yes. Each image shows the campaigns, flow messages, templates, and forms it appears in. This helps when you're replacing a logo or auditing old assets. Usage comes from regular scans of your Klaviyo account, so recent changes can take a little while to appear.

What happens when I add a file from my computer, Google Drive, Dropbox, or Brandfolder?

BrandRetriever uploads a copy to your Klaviyo image library.

  • Your computer, Google Drive, or Dropbox: use the upload buttons in the Folders tab. Files go into the folder you have open, and you can add several at once. If you pick a single image from Google Drive or Dropbox while editing a block, it's also placed in that block. Adding the same Drive or Dropbox file to the same folder again reuses the image already there.
  • Brandfolder: pick a file in the Brandfolder tab and it's placed in the block you're editing.

The image is served from Klaviyo like any other upload. Later changes to the original file won't update emails that already use it.

Can my whole team use it?

Yes, and seats are unlimited. An owner or admin can invite teammates from Settings → Users. Each person installs the Chrome extension and signs in. You pay per Klaviyo account, not per person.

Sources & connections

Using Google Drive

How to set it up

  1. An owner or admin turns on Google Drive in Settings → Integrations. It's on by default for new organizations.
  2. In the Folders tab, open the folder you want and click Upload from Google Drive.
  3. Sign in to Google in the window that opens, and pick one or more files. They upload into the folder you have open.

There's no saved connection: each time, you sign in and pick in Google's own window, using your own Google account. Google asks you to approve access on every pick; that's how Google's picker works.

Things to know

  • What it can access: Google's approval screen shows "See, edit, create, and delete only the specific Google Drive files you use with this app." That lets BrandRetriever download the files you pick. It only reads them, never edits, creates, or deletes anything in your Drive, can't open files you haven't picked, and keeps no access after the pick.
  • Previews: Google's picker shows your files and thumbnails, just like Drive.
  • Google Workspace accounts: Your admin may need to allow BrandRetriever before you can pick files. If you see "This app is blocked" or "Access denied," ask your Google Workspace admin to allow it under Security → API controls → App access control.
  • Supported files: JPG, PNG, and GIF can be uploaded to Klaviyo. Google Docs, Slides, and Drawings aren't image files, so export them as PNG or JPG first. HEIC photos from iPhones need converting too.
  • Large files: Drive often holds full-resolution photos. Klaviyo rejects files over 5 MB.
  • Turning it off: An owner or admin can turn Google Drive off in Settings → Integrations. You can also remove BrandRetriever in your Google Account settings.

Using Dropbox

How to set it up

  1. An owner or admin turns on Dropbox in Settings → Integrations. It's on by default for new organizations.
  2. In the Folders tab, open the folder you want and click Upload from Dropbox.
  3. Sign in to your own Dropbox in the window that opens, and pick one or more files. They upload into the folder you have open.

There's no saved connection: each person picks from their own Dropbox in Dropbox's own window.

Things to know

  • What it can access: BrandRetriever can't browse your Dropbox. You choose files in Dropbox's own window, and only the files you pick are shared with BrandRetriever. They're streamed to Klaviyo and stored in your Klaviyo account, not with us.
  • Supported files: JPG, PNG, and GIF only, under Klaviyo's 5 MB limit.
  • Turning it off: An owner or admin can turn Dropbox off in Settings → Integrations.

Connecting Brandfolder

How to connect

  1. Recommended: in Brandfolder, invite a user just for BrandRetriever as a Guest to only the Brandfolders you want to share, then sign in as that user.
  2. Open your profile's integrations and copy the API key.
  3. Go to Settings → Integrations, connect Brandfolder, and paste the key.
  4. Open an image block in Klaviyo. Your Brandfolder assets appear in the Brandfolder tab.

Brandfolder is connected once for your whole BrandRetriever organization, so everyone browses what that Brandfolder user can see.

Things to know

  • What it can access: Whatever the Brandfolder user whose key you pasted can see. BrandRetriever only reads. When you insert a file, it's streamed to Klaviyo and stored in your Klaviyo account, not with us.
    • The key carries one Brandfolder user's access, and everyone in your organization browses with it. We recommend a dedicated Brandfolder user for BrandRetriever, invited as a Guest (view-only) to only the Brandfolders you want to share, and connecting with that user's key.
  • Assets with several files: A Brandfolder asset can contain several attachments, such as PNG, SVG, and print PDF versions of a logo. Pick the attachment you want. Only image formats Klaviyo accepts can be inserted.
  • Rotating or deleting the key: If you reset the API key in Brandfolder, or that user is deactivated, the connection stops working. Reconnect with the new key.
  • Disconnecting: Disconnect in Settings → Integrations.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the BrandRetriever tabs in Klaviyo.

Work through these in order:

  1. Make sure the extension is installed, turned on, and signed in. Click its icon in the Chrome toolbar to check.
  2. Reload the Klaviyo tab. Klaviyo tabs opened before the install won't show the extension.
  3. Check that the Klaviyo account you're in is connected in BrandRetriever.
  4. Pause ad blockers or privacy extensions for klaviyo.com and try again.

If the tabs still don't appear, email us at support@brandretriever.com with a screenshot.

I can't get past the check on the sign-in page.

Our sign-in and sign-up forms use a quick check from Cloudflare to keep bots out. Ad blockers and privacy extensions can block it. Allow challenges.cloudflare.com, or try a browser profile without extensions, then reload the page.

Billing & account

How is BrandRetriever priced?

$20 per Klaviyo account per month for your first 5 accounts, then $15 per month for each account after that. For example, 8 accounts cost 5 × $20 + 3 × $15 = $145 a month. Billing is monthly, in USD, with no annual contracts. See Pricing.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. You get 14 days with full access, and no card is required. When the trial ends, add a card to keep using BrandRetriever. If you don't, the tabs stop working and nothing is charged. Your folders and favorites are kept in case you come back.

How do I cancel?

Go to Settings → Billing and cancel your subscription. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again. Images you've already inserted stay in Klaviyo.

Do you offer refunds?

We don't refund partial months, since you keep access until your billing period ends. If you were charged for a month you didn't mean to pay for, email us within 14 days and we'll make it right. Refunds are otherwise governed by our Terms of Service.

Do you charge VAT? I'm in the EU or UK.

BrandRetriever is for businesses. Outside the US, including the UK, the EU, Canada, and Australia, checkout asks for your business tax ID (for example a VAT, GST/HST, or ABN number). Where reverse charge applies, you account for the VAT or GST yourself. Other taxes may still be charged, such as US sales tax where we're required to collect it.

Privacy & security

Do you store my images?

No. When you insert a file, it's streamed from your source to Klaviyo and stored in your Klaviyo account, not with us. We keep only metadata such as file names, sizes, and source locations, along with your folders and favorites.

What can each connection access?

We use your connections only to browse your files and upload the images you pick into Klaviyo. Once inserted, images live in your Klaviyo account like any other upload.

You can disconnect any of these at any time in Settings → Integrations, or revoke access from the service's own settings. Our privacy policy has the full details.

How do I delete my account and data?

An organization's owner can delete the organization in its settings. To delete your user account, cancel your subscription, then email us to request account deletion. We delete account data on request or within 90 days after the account is closed, except where we need to keep it for legal or security reasons. Images in Klaviyo and your sources aren't affected.

Still stuck?

A real person, usually one of the founders, will get back to you. We usually reply within one business day (US Eastern).
